RSS News and Podcast reader Module

This is the RSS newsfeed reader module, allowing newsfeeds to be monitored directly from Sage, and podcasts to be downloaded and viewed.

The 'read' state of individual news items are updated when the item is viewed, and if the item is selected, you can:

view the full item summary
view the linked article in an external web browser.
with the WebViewer plugin, a text or graphical web page representation can be viewed with sage (even on extenders)
download and view/listen to the podcast

Installation

Download the latest STV and Java zip file from Sourceforge, and unpack the contents into your SageTV directory ( normally C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV) taking care that the file paths are preserved.
This will create !STVs/SageTV3/rssnews_import.stvi and 2 JAR files in the JARs directory.

Optionally, also download and unpack the WebText plugin for viewing webpages

Restart SageTV

Import the rssnews_import.stvi and optionally webtext.stvi following the General Installation Instructions.

Configuration

* Configure a new menu item in the Dynamic Menu to launch the internal screen named "Rss News Feeds -- nielm", or paste the following MenuItemLet:

News feed configuration is stored in file news.dat in the SageTV home directory, or if you are using a media extender, in clients/extendername_news.dat
