However, when they do searches, they search the global open source universe, and inter-organizational groups, as well as the private workspace. When a user adds items to the database, the user selects the scope of visibility (internal, shared groups, or global).

The portal supports other kinds of groups, such as industry organizations that agree to share applications and components on a shared source or community source basis.
